our missions

01.
Preserving the future of threatened and endangered tree species of Pernambuco

In order to preserve the future of threatened and endangered tree species, we seek to acquire vast areas of land, which will be restored and managed for the purpose of future protection and preservation. All acquired natural wonders will be made accessible in a non-intrusive way.  Visits by the general public will be made possible for both education and recreational purposes.

In our Mission to preserve, protect and nourish endangered and threatened species, we are committed to increase resources for scientific research. Part of our first projects will be a visitor center with research facilities at the site of our main nurcery.

02.
Maintaining a high level of natural diversity of species

A healthy, balanced and diverse ecosystem provides a large number of natural services and benefits, such as soil formation and protection, nutrient storage and recycling, pollution breakdown and absorption, and thus protection of our water resources. A healthy cover of native vegetation contributes to local climate stability, prevention of erosion and improved soil stability, and thus a reduction of sediment pollution in coastal waters.

Species depend on each other in any given ecosystem, the same goes for the natural habitats of Pernambuco and its threatened species. A balanced ecosystem depends on a type of cooperation of species based on mutual survival. If a single species is lost, the entire balance is at risk and thus the survival an entire habitat.

In our mission to preserve, protect and nourish the natural diversity, we aim for a natural balance of diversity of species in our reforestation programs

03.
Transforming degraded areas into healthy and diverse habitats

Despite current knowledge, little effort is made to restore degraded habitats into healthy and diverse habitats, due to economical preference of agricultural and industrial use of land. For the survival of species and the safeguarding of genetical diversity, it is important to put a halt to further fragmentation and dispersal of habitats. Small islands of preserved habitats are not sufficient to guarantee a continuation of species diversity. Existing areas of vegetation need to be reconnected and protected in order to save the balance of diversity of species.

In our efforts to restore degraded areas, we will do so in using a natural diversity of species found in neighboring habitats.

04.
Promoting the use of ornamental indigenous species in urban landscaping

Currently, many exotic species are used for urban landscaping and private gardens. In our efforts to maintain a high diversity of indigenous species, we will actively promote the use of local species in urban landscaping.

Part of our foundations income comes from cultivation of ornamental indigenous species for urban landscaping and private gardens.
